Red Rubber Road

Red Rubber Road is the shared identity of artist duo AnaHell and Nathalie Dreier currently based between Berlin and Zurich. In their work, the artists weave performative narratives between the mundane and the surreal, in which the role of the individual takes second place to a new common identity. Their work explores their own relationship, touching on topics such as dissociation, intimacy and technology.
They have been exhibited worldwide, including at ImageNation London (2025), Biennale internationale de photographie Clermont-Ferrand (2022), Verzasca Photo Festival (2021), and their work has been published in international publications and books.

Almost Something Else (2025)

Set in a surreal, dreamlike future, the series Almost Something Else features encounters with a creature sculpted from our projections which gazes at us with desire. At the heart of the project is a mirrored desire: the human wish to be perfect and the machine’s dream to feel something it cannot compute. In this way, this series is about the poetics of yearning: the ache to escape our own limits.
This work is a reflection on the relationship between humans and artificial intelligence and the pressing question of what this means for our future. We continuously seek to move beyond our limits, while feeling the alienation caused by the often absurd imitations of the Machine. With each step toward perfection, we become more artificial, while the machine strives to become more like us, concealing its own artificiality. This project consists of self-portraits made in-camera without post-production, intended to mimic AI without using it.
