Habiter le Trouble [Inhabiting Trouble] (2013-in progress)
Since 2013, Marie Le Moigne has been developing an ongoing analog photographic series exploring mental health through self-fiction and self-portraiture. Within a suspended temporality, her images unfold an inner space where a female figure evolves in a state of waiting, between silence and mirage.
While her earlier works have already examined psychic fragility, this project radicalizes the gesture. Photography is no longer a surface of representation, but an active site of memory, erosion, and transformation. Burns, scratches, erasures, and scars directly alter the images, turning photography into a wounded surface, traversed by disturbance.
Both a therapeutic process and an act of resistance, Habiter le Trouble makes the unspeakable visible and opens a space of resonance between intimate experience and collective memory. It also engages with questions of embodiment and perception, where the photographic image becomes a fragile interface between inner states and the world. In this tension, the work seeks to articulate how trauma, absence, and care can coexist within the same visual field.
