Federica Duma (Legnano, 1999) is a photographer and art director. She began exploring photography at the age of fourteen and has developed a body of work centered on visual storytelling and images that hover between reality and imagination. Her practice examines the photographic image as a symbolic space, reinterpreting reality in a dreamlike and layered manner. Through photomontage and post-production, she constructs delicate, atmospheric visions in which the human figure—often female—serves as an emotional conduit. Her work explores fragility, melancholy, and metamorphosis.
Metamorphoses (2024)
Metamorphoses explores the female body as a constantly changing landscape, suspended between physical and psychological realms. It is a multimedia project that examines the construction of identity during the transition from adolescence to young adulthood, through themes such as growth, desire, vulnerability, and the profound connection between the body and nature. The images take the form of passing fragments, suspended moments in which the body becomes a space inhabited by emotional tensions and silent metamorphoses.
The project stems from sketches and compositional studies that foreshadow the construction and composition of the image, in which every element takes on symbolic value. The photographic phase intertwines with post-production and photomontage in Photoshop, used to amplify the dreamlike dimension and render a rarefied reality, somewhere between the real and the imaginary.
